Kochi B2B Meet Rakes in Orders Worth 100 Crores for SMEs

The Department of Industries & Commerce, Government of Kerala organised the ‘Kerala Business to Business Meet 2015’ in Kochi for the Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs) of the state.

The three-day meet was inaugurated by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. Mr P.K. Kunhalikutty, Minister for Industries & IT presided over the inaugural function that was attended by Mr. K. Babu, Minister (Fisheries, Ports & Excise), Mr. Benny Behanan, MLA, Mr. Hibi Eden MLA, Mr. P.H. Kurian IAS, Principal Secretary (Industries & IT), Mr. P.M. Francis IAS, Director (Industries & Commerce), Mr. Pankaj R Patel, National Vice President, FICCI, Mr. George Muthoot, Chairman, FICCI Kerala State Council and Mr. K.P. Ramachandran Nair, State President, KSSIA.

5220 pre-fixed buyer-seller meets were held as part of the three day meet that was attended by 336 buyers – 74 of them from abroad – and 150 sellers. 1500 pre-fixed buyer-seller meets were held on the first day, 2720 meetings on the second day and 1000 meetings on the concluding day of the meet. Seven sectors of Kerala’s industry were showcased at the Meet.

Almost a third of the participants in the B2B meet organized by the government are from the food processing sector. The furniture sector is another major participant,

The other sectors which were focused in the meet include handlooms, textiles & garments, rubber, Ayurveda & herbal, electrical & electronics and traditional sectors such as handicrafts and bamboo. The meet helped the small scale manufacturers showcase the unique products of the state before the international buyers.

SMEs from the state, who participated in the B2B Meet, received confirmed orders worth Rs. 100 crore, through the buyer-seller meetings, according to figures from KBIP. In addition they also received enquires for Rs. 150 crore, which will be finalized after further discussions.
